Chiang Rai's dry season, November to January, brings cool clear mornings of around 12–28°C and crisp light for Doi Tung and Phu Chi Fa sunrise trips. May to September is green but cloudy, and agricultural burning can badly hurt air quality around March, so check the AQI before you book.

PACKING NOTE

Pack layers for early starts, grippy shoes for highland paths and a headlamp for pre-dawn drives. Doi Tung has no public transport, so plan on a rental car or a driver.
